Duntrune Castle, located on the north side of Loch Crinan in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, is considered the oldest continuously occupied castle on mainland Scotland. Originally built by the MacDougall clan in the 12th–13th century, it was later seized by the Clan Campbell, serving as the seat of the Campbells of Duntroon until 1792, when it was sold to the Malcolms of Poltalloch. The castle, a Category B listed building, features a 13th-century curtain wall and a 17th-century L-plan tower house. B

Duntrune Castle originally built by ClanMacDougall in the 12th century before being taken over by Clan Campbell. Duncan Campbell, whose father had supported King Robert the Bruce received a royal charter granting him the castle.
