Care to know how crystals are studied? This #TeachingTuesday, our CERN–Solvay camp students take you along for a day in the Crystal Lab at CERN. The Crystal Lab is where the crystals used in the CMS Experiment at CERN electromagnetic calorimeter were first investigated and characterised. Today, the laboratory studies the properties of numerous materials and crystals to be used in future particle detectors both in high-energy #physics and in medical imaging. During the camp, the students were abl

Proton collisions at the LHC end on a high(-luminosity) note 💫 During this year, an exceptional volume of data was collected at a collision energy of 13.6 teraelectronvolts (TeV). The integrated luminosity, which relates to the number of collisions recorded in a given amount of time, reached 125 inverse femtobarns for the ATLAS and CMS experiments, and the total is more than 520 inverse femtobarns since 2010. Watch to find out more about what this means. 👇 | CERN

Hunting the mysterious dark photon The new experiment NA64 at CERN started operations earlier this year. NA64 is searching for hypothetic dark matter particles called dark photons, as they might act as a bridge to the universe’s invisible and dark sector.
