Monocacy National Battlefield took part today in the Memorial Day holiday with special programs about the history of Memorial Day and its deep ties to the American Civil War. As part of those programs, Ranger Brian read the poem, Two Harvests, by Alfred Roe of the 9th New York Heavy Artillery. The 9th New York fought here at Monocacy and suffered some of the highest casualties of the battle.
