Construction on the new roundabout at SR 20 just north of Oak Harbor kicked off Thursday with excavation of the highway. SR 20 will be down to one lane around the clock for the next few weeks while contractor crews build the roundabout one half at a time. Flaggers are alternating traffic, so if you travel between Anacortes and Oak Harbor, prepare for delays and budget plenty of extra time into your trip. We've seen some images from our SR 20 North Cascades Highway clearing effort from the east side, but how about from the west side? Crews report that at the close of Monday they'd made it to milepost 153 (the gate is closed at milepost 134, east of Diablo). They found about 25 inches of snow on the centerline. Still no estimate yet on when the highway will be open. | WSDOT
