However Trump has vowed to do lots of bad things, literally everything from green energy, to lgbtq rights to environment and even abortion rights. Internationally he wants to impose 10% tariffs on everything China and the list just goes on..

But Trump had clearly taken a big wet bite out of the NHTSA (and the entire US DOT, really) on Day #1 of his term - so Musk, presumably, would not have needed a specific favor from Trump ...
