The PGA Championship gets underway at Quail Hollow on Thursday and Mirror US Sports' writers have weighed in on the biggest storylines heading into the second major of the year

The two-time major championship winner and LIV Golf member earned a special exemption from the PGA of America to compete in the PGA Championship next week in North Carolina. Johnson’s previous exemption into the second major championship of the year — a five-year pass for his win at the Masters in 2020 — ended last year.

Dustin Johnson put together a 13th-place finish in his last tournament at Quail Hollow Club (in the 2017 PGA Championship). He comes into the 2025 PGA Championship with +6600 odds to win. Johnson has competed in four tournaments in the past year. His best finish was 31st, his average finish was 37th, and he had the top round of the day zero times.

When the final list of participants for next week’s PGA Championship was revealed Tuesday, there was a notable name on it.
