SEOUL - Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min played what is expected to be his final match for the club in front of 64,773 fans at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday, and teammate James  Maddison was carried off with a knee injury.

A day after announcing his decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur, South Korean football icon Son Heung-min bid an emotional farewell to fans in his homeland Sunday. Son started Spurs' preseason match against Newcastle United at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul and played 65 minutes.

The game in South Korea was billed as Son Heung-min’s grand farewell after the Spurs captain announced his decision to leave north London. The 33-year-old forward trotted off the pitch to a standing ovation in the 65th minute ahead of what is expected to be a record-breaking move to LAFC.
