Tottenham Hotspur did just enough to overturn their first-leg deficit with a 3-1 victory (3-2 on aggregate) over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League round of 16.

After a tentative first half, they clicked into gear after the break, creating enough chances to win the game easily and scoring twice more. Odobert scored his first two goals for Tottenham, producing his best ever display for the club. It was strikingly different from the flat performance in the first leg in the Netherlands last week.

Spurs managed to achieve that on Thursday as they went 2-0 up in the 48th minute only to see themselves dragged back into the tie with a 64th-minute strike by Peer Koopmeiners; they ultimately sealed a 3-1 victory with Wilson Odobert’s winner.
