The Boston Red Sox made a surprisingly generous offer to the Minnesota Twins, but were turned down, a new report says.

It seemed like the Red Sox would be aggressive buyers at the trade deadline, especially after getting rid of Devers’ contract. While they did make some moves, they weren’t anything special on the surface. ESPN’s David Schoenfield named Boston as one of the trade deadline losers.

In the immediate aftermath of the deadline, it doesn't feel like the Red Sox did much of anything, let alone enough to solidify them as a serious playoff team.
