Hogan is quite possibly the most controversial entity in the history of pro wrestling. The former WWE Champion recently made an appearance on the RAW Netflix premiere and was met with a heavy chorus of boos from the fans in attendance. The incident was covered by several mainstream news outlets as well.
Despite appearing in advertisements for "WWE Saturday Night's Main Event," Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was never actually booked for the show this weekend.
Hogan returned to WWE programming on Monday Night Raw's debut on Netflix, in large part due to WWE's new partnership with Real American Beer. We're told that Hogan had been due to make a number of appearances in the future tied to the partnership, however, this week's went awry.
Bischoff was WCW President when Hogan wrestled for the company in the 1990s. On his 83 Weeks podcast, the 69-year-old implied that the two-time WWE Hall of Famer is not as unpopular as Punk thinks. He also referenced fans' positive reaction to Hogan when he performed as a bad guy against The Rock at WrestleMania 18 in 2002:
“You put Hulk Hogan in the Rumble and I'll throw his dusty a** over the top rope, and I'll kill Hulkamania once and for all,” CM Punk said of the WWE Hall of Famer during the passionate promo.
Hulk Hogan reportedly missed the January 25 WWE Saturday Night's Main Event show for a family matter, but there might be more to the story.
Despite the negative reaction Hulk Hogan received in his return to WWE Raw, the "Hulkster" got some very good news this week.
CM Punk referenced Hulk Hogan during his promo this past Monday on WWE RAW, declaring that he would toss The Hulkster’s “dusty ass” over the top rope if they crossed paths in the Men’s Royal Rumble match. However, Punk faced no backlash over it. In fact, people were laughing about the matter backstage.
