Four astronauts splash down off the Southern California coast after a five-month stay at the International Space Station. A NASA crew hadn't returned in the Pacific since 1975.

An international crew of four astronauts is back home on Earth Saturday after nearly five months aboard the International Space Station, returning safely in a SpaceX capsule.

After more than four months aboard the International Space Station, four astronauts safely returned to Earth Saturday morning with a splashdown off the coast of San Diego, wrapping up NASA and SpaceX's Crew-10 mission.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Four astronauts from NASA's Crew-10 mission departed the International Space Station on Friday aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule, heading for a splashdown off the U.S. West Coast on Saturday morning after a five-month crew rotation mission at the orbiting lab.

Their Dragon capsule called Endurance is scheduled to splash down at approximately 11:33 AM Eastern time off the coast of California.

Nicknamed "Smilin’ Jim” by his fellow astronauts, Jim Lovell was known for his wit and quick grin, said acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy.
