Portland police say they’re prepared to respond to several May Day protests planned for the city Thursday afternoon and evening. But they don’t know whether to expect hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of people on the streets as temperatures reach a high of 82 degrees on what is a work day for most people.

Today is May Day and demonstrators are rallying against President Donald Trump and his policies impacting workers and laborers. The May Day march started at the state Capitol, with waves of people chanting and holding signs while making their way to the federal courthouse.
