Charges are pending Monday against a Buena Park homeowner who allegedly operated an illegal Fourth of July fireworks display that misfired, killing an 8-year-old girl.

A large illegal fireworks display, placed in the street by the homeowner, failed and began misfiring toward the home where the child was, police said.

An 8-year-old girl died in Buena Park due to a fireworks mishap on July 4th; an investigation revealed the use of illegal fireworks led to her injuries. The homeowner was arrested with charges pending.
