Iga Swiatek's historic run in Doha has officially ended. Entering Friday's match against Jelena Ostapenko, Swiatek had won 15 straight matches and three consecutive titles at the Qatar Open (called the Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2025 or Doha Open).

Three-times defending champion Iga Swiatek was bundled out of the Qatar Open by Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, who beat the Polish second seed 6-3 6-1 in the semi-finals on Friday to set up a final showdown with American Amanda Anisimova.

Ekaterina Alexandrova also made the semis, beating sixth seed Jessica Pegula after her win over World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

Three-time defending Qatar Open champion Iga Swiatek suffered a crushing 6-3, 6-1 defeat by Jelena Ostapenko in the semi-finals on Friday, her fifth loss in as many meetings with the mercurial Latvian.

Jelena Ostapenko ended Iga Swiatek’s three-year reign at the Qatar Open in the semifinals. No. 37-ranked Ostapenko won 6-3, 6-1 and improved her record against No. 2 Swiatek to 5-0. The Latvian is the only active player to have faced Swiatek at least twice and kept a winning record.
