A local musician from Charlotte is taking his shot at stardom in the newest season of “American Idol.” Singer songwriter Josh King will be one of the many artists across the country auditioning for the hit singing competition.

If Crews Wright was nervous during his “American Idol” audition, he certainly didn’t show it. The country singer from Samson, Alabama, sang for three powerhouse judges on Sunday’s episode of the ABC reality series, smiling and bantering with Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and Lionel Richie.

A 26-year-old singer from Oklahoma spoke with her favorite singer when judge Lionel Richie called the R&B legend during the woman's audition.
