Microsoft is shutting down Skype, the internet-based phone and video service that was once the dominant way of staying connected in the mid 2000s.

Microsoft is pivoting to support Teams instead. Microsoft 365 head Jeff Teper encouraged Skype users to migrate their Skype contacts to Teams.

In a move that could have been seen coming from at least a decade away, Microsoft has confirmed that the Skype service will be shutting down on May 5. This comes after an intrepid person stumbled
