Warnings on cone graphics: The cone of uncertainty graphics from the National Hurricane Center will continue to emphasize that threats extend well beyond their own cone by overlaying wind alerts on them. This has been a practice used on some of our graphics at weather.com for several years.
When is hurricane season? List of 2025 Atlantic hurricane season names leads with Andrea
The 2024 season began with Alberto and Beryl, both of which made landfall in Texas. They were the only named storms to hit the state. Hurricane season begins June 1 and concludes on Nov. 30. The first tropical cyclone of the 1938 Atlantic hurricane season formed on Jan. 3, making it the earliest recorded tropical storm and hurricane in history.
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season could be near-normal, says early CSU prediction
His prediction somewhat falls in line with what meteorological consulting firm WeatherBell predicted in early February. Both predictions call for a near-normal hurricane season, but WeatherBell forecasts 15-19 named storms, with 7-9 of them becoming hurricanes.
2025 hurricane season: See this year’s list of names
If a storm develops before the start of the season, it will take the name from the current calendar date. If a storm starts before June 1, it will use a name from the 2025 list. If one had popped up before Jan. 1, it would have a name from the 2024 list.
