The New York Yankees will be without Aaron Judge for the near future as they chase the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays.

The two-time AL MVP has a flexor strain in his right elbow but no acute damage to his ulnar collateral ligament that might cause a long-term layoff.

The club swung a trade with the Washington Nationals on Saturday for utility infielder Amedd Rosario, according to team broadcaster Jack Curry. Going back to D.C. are pitcher Clayton Beeter and Browm Martinez.

The scuffling New York Yankees added infield depth on Saturday night, acquiring Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals for pitcher Clayton Beeter and a minor leaguer.The move came hours after New York placed star slugger Aaron Judge on the injured list — and one day after the Yankees obtained third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies for two pitching prospects.

The Yankees have had a need for a third baseman since releasing DJ LeMahieu and moving Jazz Chisholm back to the keystone. As of late, manager Aaron Boone has used a combination of Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas at the hot corner. Clearly New York, now 4 ½ games back in the American League East, was not satisfied with that arrangement.
