Evacuation orders were lifted Friday evening in parts of Southern California as firefighters battling the Canyon Fire made progress taming the blaze.

The Canyon Fire, a rapidly spreading blaze in California, is impacting communities in the Los Angeles area as thousands have been placed under evacuation orders and warnings, according to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger.

Crews continued to make progress Saturday establishing containment lines around the Canyon Fire straddling the Los Angeles-Ventura county line near Val Verde west of Castaic, but the blaze continued to grow in size,
