HATTERAS, N.C. — Bird flu may have caused the death of nearly 400 dead birds on Hatteras Island, according to preliminary test results. Multiple dead pelicans on Cora June Island were reported to biologists with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission on Feb. 26.
