The future of the BET Hip-Hop Awards and Soul Train Music Awards is in limbo. In a recent interview with Billboard, BET CEO Scott Mills confirmed that the two staple awards ceremonies will not return for the foreseeable future as the company works to reconfigure its place amid changes in the media and entertainment industries.

According to Scott Mills, BET's CEO, both the BET Hip-Hop Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards have been indefinitely suspended.

Like Rap City, 106 & Park, and ComicView before it, another BET staple may be coming to an end. Recently, the network announced its plan to indefinitely “suspend” the BET Hip Hop Awards while reimagining how to best position the ceremony in the current media landscape.
