Amazing place, kind helpful guides, views to die for. And see the monkeys! Good food before your trek to the waterfall.. Full review by Ellie L

Terrifying. Trekking on the edge of a mountains, no steps just rocks and no guardrails. Not for physical difficulties. Horrible. Full review by zeym2021
Hi, i would like to know is it okay taking 5 month old baby in the valley. I am going to be driving there and was wondering as i do not want to do a trek

Thanks Sophia. I was more concerned with the walking. Was looking for a route with minimal walking
I like your review and like the idea of going on my own in such daily trips away from tours and agencies. I was looking at this marrakech-desert-trips website got so excited but then I read some reviews here and just wanted to know if its really better/easy to get on a bus and get to the valley and guide myself in doing the walks ...etc. Thanks.

Hi ! It is quite possible to do it on your own ! You could get a public bus from Marrakech to Setti Fatma , I think it is less than a 2 hours drive . Once you are there , depending on your physical condition and knowledge of trekking you could do the trail to the first fall by yourself or find a guide there , most guides speak French and Arabic , very few English or join a group for a fee to be negotiated with the guide ! I hope this is what you were looking for !
Hello we are a couple visiting Marrakech at the end of August. We have 1 day free and we don't if we should go to Essaouria, Ouzoud Cascades or the Ourika Valley. Suggestions?

We just wrapped a trip to Marrakech and with out extra day we decided to use it for the Ourika Valley. That being said we didn't feel compelled to get to the coast because we had just surfed in Taghazout for 4 days with Surf Maroc so you might feel drawn to take that trip. The Ourika Valley was amazing! It was about a 45 min to 1 hour drive from Marrakech. You could spend an entire day there. There are 7 waterfalls to get to. We hiked with a 4 and 6 year old and only made it to waterfall #2. Then after we had lunch on the river. You might need to do your homework as the water flow was strong in April as the snow was melting from the Atlas. I'm not sure what the flow will be like in August. Our guide in Marrakech was telling me last summer it reached 50 C in the city. I don't know if the hike would be as amazing without the water flow. Waterfall #7 was supposed to be amazing if there is water and you can make it. About a 3 hour hike. If you can ask for a guide I recommend Abdul Kamir. That kid is nails. I hear good things about Ouzoud but we didn't make it. The trip cost was about 160 Eur but we weren't packaged up with other passengers. Also, the company that took us wanted to show us a lake after. I would recommend you skip that and spend all of your time at the waterfalls and the hike. Hope that helps and good luck.
